Vicky Wickremeratne - Employment, Partner - ProfileSynopsis:
Whilst the last few years have been light on the employment legislation front, there have been other complexities to consider. Perhaps the most important of these has been the intense scrutiny on workplace culture. The problem is that culture is multi-dimensional, and depends on proactions and reactions to whistleblowing, mental health and dignity at work, to name just a few issues. This will continue in 2020 but will have to be managed alongside a heavy employment legislative agenda, much of which is taking place in April. The employment partners will examine a number of challenges for the coming year, including the new rules on IR35, written statement of particulars and parental bereavement leave. They will predict what’s next for culture, and also assess an employer’s exposure to risk following the classification of “burnout” as an occupational condition.
